Don’t Be Afraid of Fear

Everyone one of us is a sinful person. We must continually come before God and confess our sin so that when we forgive others their sins will be forgiven as well. So what does this have to do with fear?

What is fear?

Most of us have heard that fear means “false evidence appearing real.” It’s catchy and has almost become sealed in people’s foreheads that that’s actually what it stands for. However, fear is a spirit that is always accompanied by the presence of the devil. Why? Because the devil himself lives in fear. Let me explain.

Every time you feel fear, you are not actually feeling your own emotion. You are actually feeling the devil’s emotion. He wishes you to fear him with him. People usually don’t think of the devil being afraid, but the bottom line is that he is really afraid of being found out.

You see this is what happens.

When the devil comes to have you operate in fear, it’s not because you did something against God’s word. If you were doing something against God, there is no need to tempt you into it. No, the devil tempts you when you are doing right. He knows the consequences of you doing what agrees with God. When he sees you doing the Word of God, then he knows that he has to come against the Word of God. Since you are a carrier of His Word, he knows that he will be found out to be a liar. In other words, he’s in fear of being defeated once again. If you entertain his fear, then you are joining forces with him to come against the Word of God. The Word of God is to dwell in our hearts, but if our hearts are not purified we leave room for the spirit of Satan to rule over them using fear as a means of entry.

Fear is not ‘false evidence appearing real.’

Fear is present when we have not looked at our own double-mindedness.  When something’s full it is complete. Therefore we can’t be full of fear and full of Christ’s love at the same time. Fear takes root in doubt and that doubt is like saying “maybe God won’t do what He said. This is called double-mindedness. (we are to have a sound mind). If we doubt God’s Word, then we will always be in fear and worse yet be found a liar. And if we are always in fear, then it is evidence that we are not submitted to God in our hearts and in our minds.

Fear is not false evidence. It is real evidence of where we are in our walk with Christ. False evidence only occurs when Satan stands before God to accuse you, saying that you should be destroyed with him.

False evidence is Satan himself.

If fear was false, then Jesus would not have said “fear not’ 365 times.  Jesus actually said ‘fear not’ 365 times in the bible. One “fear not”for every day of the year. We have always understood fear not as an instruction to not be afraid of the devil. But if you are in Christ there is no need to be afraid.  In fact, we are to be strong and courageous. Therefore the term ‘fear not’ was not about becoming afraid, but was for the intention of not becoming a child of Satan. Satan is the father of lies and those who listen or submit to him are his children.

Satan’s version of God’s Spirit is called ‘The spirit of fear.’

Since Satan’s spirit is fear, then God doesn’t want us to live or operate in it.  Therefore we are to ‘fear not.’ In other words, don’t become evidence of fear. Don’t remain or become one of Satan’s children.  When we operate according to Satan’s spirit we are giving proof or evidence of whom we belong.   Anything that is a lie is false. Since evidence is the proof of a thing, Satan proves that he is the real “false evidence and his spirit of fear proves it.” We are not to be a child of it.

Remember fear shows up, it’s an opportunity for God to strengthen your trust in His Word and to exercise what He has told you to do. Fear is a signal that you are about to please God and the devil knows it. Satan knows that his words are about to fall to the ground like lightning.

It is Satan that lives in a constant state of fear.

Fear is always based on a lie regardless of the situation. But God is Truth and He has overcome every lie that Satan throws at you. However if you believe Satan over God, then you will be defeated with him.  We are to submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee. In other words, we create an alliance with God and stand against ‘these types of schemes’ because Satan doesn’t want to be defeated.

When we live in fear we live in a state of child slavery. When Satan’s spirit of fear arises it’s only because God is bringing you of the dark pit of slavery that produced the fear in the first place. He doesn’t want you to stay living in the pit of slavery serving Satan. He wants you to trust what He says so that He can continually walk you out of the darkness into His wonderful light. All God needs is a decision from you, so that He can operate and be your Lord instead of Satan. The spirit of fear is an indicator or signal to test to see of whom you serve and believe is Lord in your life. It is whom you believe has more power. Satan’s spirit of fear brings out a confession before God. It is by this spirit that you take the test of whom you belong.

Fear is Satan’s punishment

Satan is in fear because fear has to do with punishment. When you live in fear you are letting him punish you for crimes he has committed. In other words, when you live in fear, you are agreeing with his spirit and you allow him to take his fear out on you. And if you entertain his fear, then you are not submitting to God. And if you are not submitting to God then you are going against Christ’s Word (antichrist.) And if you go against Christ, then you are actually confessing that you are in agreement with the will of Satan and want to share in his fear. And you are also acknowledging that you don’t want Satan to flee, because to submit to God means that the devil must leave.

1 Jn 4:17–18

18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

Fear is a signal of Satan’s punishment. When his spirit shows up it’s an opportunity for you to torment him by doing God’s Will by submitting whatever part of you is not submitted to God

If you are not submitted to God, Satan’s spirit will rule over you, only because you have given it the power and permission to do so.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

The spirit of fear fights against the Word and Wisdom of God. It is not Satan fighting you, it’s Satan’s word fighting God’s Word. You just happen to be a messenger of it.  Simply put, God has a messenger and you are the carrier of that message and Satan says “you must be stopped.”

1 John 4: 13-18

Therefore if you are in Christ you will FEAR NOT.This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

It’s time to cast out fear. It’s time to quit sharing in Satan’s promises and start coming out of darkness to live in God’s promises. It’s time to believe the One who has already defeated Him.

It’s time to serve the Lord and to Fear Not.
