Jesus said to ‘beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing.” He was actually warning the disciples not to get caught up in their own desires but to stick to God’s desires. He warned them because they were to keep their desires and ego in check and to stay humble. Why? Jesus used the illustration of a wolf, because in Roman times the wolf was a symbol for lust and lust is a “vicious strong desire for worldly things.” Wolves love to eat flesh, so wolves must keep you in your flesh in order to keep eating. Wolves wear sheep’s clothing. Therefore they are NOT wearing the Shepherd’s clothing. They clothe themselves with sheep, disguise themselves with the crowd so to speak. They are not called by God to be shepherds, instead they are hired or there for the money. They love to eat flesh so they must appeal to your flesh by making you focus on power, greed, riches of the world, business, status, ego etc. The more they feed your flesh, the more they eat. The more they give into your desires, the more you are able to feed your flesh. So which wolf is feeding after you? Jesus said ‘wolves’ not wolf. So there are multiple.
