Most Christians must have the same mindset as true disciples. There are many Christians but out of all those Christians there are not many disciples. Why? Because most Christians have a perception of God that is incorrect. This incorrect perception causes people to stay in sin and thus causes them to believe that a version of what they believe is God, is not actually God the Father, Creator of Heaven and Earth. Somehow the Word of God has been twisted so that people’s paths to be in agreement with God’s Word, stay twisted. To distort God’s ways which are taught by Christ, is what we call “to twist” God’s Word. It was one of the biggest cries that John the Baptist repeatedly told the people.
Matthew 3:3
For this is the one referred to by Isaiah the prophet when he said, “THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, ‘MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT!'”
John 1:23
He said, “I am A VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, ‘MAKE STRAIGHT THE WAY OF THE LORD,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”
God the Father does not want any distortions of His Word. He wants you to walk in it straight. That means, He wants you to have His Word , pure, holy and undefiled, without spot and without wrinkle.
Therefore it is imperative that you understand the relationship between God and His Son/His Word, because it will help you understand the relationship that you are to have with your heavenly Father.
To begin with first of all you must understand forgiveness. To forgive someone is not merely to say ‘I’m Sorry” and then move on like nothing happened. When you forgive someone you must understand that you are to help repair the relationship between the one that sinned against you and God. That is because the person who sinned against you, had to sin against God first before they could sin against you.
Forgiveness involves the restoration of the relationship of the sinner and God first. You cannot restore that holy relationship without the Holy Spirit. This means that without God’s will, guidance and instruction it will be impossible for you to forgive sin. It should be a priority when someone sins against you, that their relationship with God, is more important than YOUR relationship with them. Your love for God should be greater than your own selfish wants and desires. Even though whomever has hurt you, you must keep in mind, that they couldn’t have hurt you, unless they have hurt God first. Therefore your thoughts should be on God’s wounding rather than your own.
Like a I said before you cannot truly forgive if these components are not in place. And it is impossible to forgive unless you have God’s Holy Spirit giving you the ability to proceed and walk out the forgiveness with them.
John 20:22 When He had said this, He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you withhold forgiveness from anyone, it is withheld.”
To receive the Holy Spirit, you must do what is the will of God’s Holy Spirit. To receive the Holy Spirit is to be agree with God’s Will. That is accompanied with the ability to do the Will of God. We forgive sin when we help restore the broken relationship that occurred before they sinned against you. If you withhold that forgiveness from anyone, it is withheld, because God’s Spirit knows who wants to be restored. However if you are a Christian that is not a disciple, then you will not know how to restore that relationship, because your perception of the Father will not be in accordance to the Word of God.
This is why is it so important that you know the relationship Jesus had with His Father. In this knowledge of that relationship, you will realize just how Holy The Word and The Father and the Spirit truly are and you will see where you are in them.
Jesus in the flesh died so that God could forgive us. He restores our relationship with our Father, because sin separates us from our Father. Therefore we are to do the same. We die to our flesh so that God can forgive the sinner that sins against the Father.
Forgiveness has nothing to do with you, but everything to do with your heavenly Father and the reason for the Cross in the first place.
