If you are a church leader please don’t parade how much you have or how much money you want others to believe you have. Doing that is an insult to those who are hurting and are just getting by. I have had people tell me that they do these things because they want people to come out of debt and that they want to show them that God can give them a life that is prosperous. However that way of thinking is wrong. First of all parading riches develops covetousness in people. That goes against the commandments. Secondly showing off what you have in front of people and calling it prosperous is also incorrect. Why? Because it promotes self interest, self glorification and goes against the Word of God. God prospers you as your soul prospers. Oddly enough for your soul to prosper you should not be parading anything except being the Word of God. You will hear some leaders say that you are a child of Abraham and that Abraham was rich. So let me correct that as well. If you are a child of Abraham you will have faith. As your faith grows, your soul grows closer to God. Your soul is the relational existence with God. So when your faith grows, your soul grows. When your soul prospers, your heart, mind and body will prosper. Finally when your desires line up with God’s desires, He will give you the desires of HIS heart and that doesn’t necessarily mean earthly things.It means that you will fulfill what you were placed on this earth to do. In other words you will fulfill His Will.
